Back To The Office

Hi Everyone,

Since my regular radiation is now done I was able to spend most of the day in the office. It was great to get some work done and visit with everyone and get caught up with what has been going on at work!

Elizabeth and I are looking forward to the weekend as we are celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary on Sunday. We are splurging and going to Murray's located in downtown Minneapolis. Murray's is known for their "Silver Butter Knife Steak" which we looking forward to trying...Yummie!

I had previously mentioned that my Elizabeth's sister Katy and her family spent Christmas with us. While she was here I went into the hot tub (yes...a hot tub! You have to get one if you don't have on) and snapped this what she called a "Rock Star Photo of Me". If I am a rock star we are all in trouble!

I wish all of you a Happy and Health New Year!

RADIATION - DONE!!

Hi Everyone,

Today was my last day of regular radiation so that is one step that I needed to complete as part of my treatment. My sister-in law (Elizabeth's Sister) Katy came along and got to see how it all works. The Technician's at Methodist Hospital are so nice and very accommodating. Elizabeth brought cookies to share with the staff and other patients. It's kind of a tradition to do that because it is a good feeling to finish your treatment.

My hair has gotten quite thin so I went in for a stylish cut this afternoon. I am trying to avoid looking like "The Donald"

We had a very nice Xmas and hope you all did too. I will be in full work mode tomorrow since I am done with my radiation. Again please feel to write or call to keep me on my toes.

Take Care....Jim

Meeting with the Mysterious Dr. Sperduto

This afternoon with we finally met with the mysterious Dr. Sperduto who will be performing the Stereotactic Radiosurgery on January 9th. Oh Yea...Sounds like fun to me baby! He's a very nice guy about 2 weeks older than me and spelled everything out very clearly and I am very very optimistic about his plan. It will be an all day thing but no big deal. I will have to be at the hospital at 7 AM and will be leaving at 6 PM.

The hand held games that we received from my friends at Target are going to get a real workout that day...thanks again!

I have one more regular radiation treatment on Tuesday December 26 and then our schedule will be more normal.

Take care and happy holidays!

Jim
Hello everyone,

Well yesterday was an interesting day with the roads being so challenging. I went in for my standard radiation at 3:30PM and then was supposed to meet with a specialist at 4 PM. Unfortunately he was coming from Waconia and with the roads being bad he finally called at 6:30 PM to let us know we would have to meet on Friday at 4 PM. Oh well! When we left St. Louis Park to drive home the roads were quiet and it was an easy drive.

One of the privileges I have lost is I cannot drive for 3 months which I really miss! I asked my doctor if I could ride my motorcycle instead but he did not find that funny. I am getting him a better sense of humor for Xmas.

Take care and have a great day!

Hello Everyone,

Instead of pushing email out to all of you I thought it would be better if I created a blog to keep you updated on my progress. That way you can keep up if you care to.

On Tuesday December 5, I had a seizure at the office which was my body's way of telling me that my melanoma had moved to my brain. I was taken by ambulance to Methodist Hospital where I stayed until Friday December 9. Fortunately I have had no after-effects from my seizure and am right as rain.

I want to first thank the numerous friends and family members that have been so wonderful and supportive to Elizabeth and me! You will never know how much it means to us!

I started radiation treatment on Wednesday December 6 so I have completed two weeks of radiation treatment and I feel great. So far it has had no physical effect other than it looks like I have a tan on my face. I hope they don't think I have been out playing golf instead of working from home? My last radiation treatment will be on Tuesday December 26.

Tomorrow I am meeting with a doctor that is planning on doing focus radiation January 9 that will be a one day radiation treatment which sounds very good to me

Right now the plan is to go in for CT scan on January 2 and meet with my oncologist on January 5. My understanding is that melanoma cells are very slow to shrink so it could be 1 - 3 months to see the final results of the radiation.

Take care and best holiday wishes!

Jim
